John Perrin received his first drum set as a present from his parents on his 2nd birthday, began performing live in a band with his Dad at age 10 (in the year 2002 - wow, he’s “old” now!), and turned his passion into a full-time career in 2013.

In 2013, Louise Harrison (sister of late Beatle George Harrison) handpicked John to portray both Ringo Starr and George Harrison as part of Liverpool Legends. This internationally touring, critically acclaimed Beatles show has given John the opportunity to perform at venues including Carnegie Hall, The Rose Bowl, Auditorio National (Mexico City) and countries such as India, UK, Israel, and Ecuador. The band is largely popular in Mexico and regularly sells out shows with crowds of 10,000+. John traveled with Liverpool Legends to Ukraine in February 2020 for 8 sold-out shows.

Since 2015, he’s been the drummer of the critically acclaimed band NRBQ (New Rhythm & Blues Quartet). John’s work with NRBQ was the focus of a 2017 feature in “DRUM! Magazine” and his time in the band has seen reviews and features published by The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Pollstar, and High Times. John had to learn & memorize around 500 songs to join NRBQ as the band never performs with a set list. The band released the album ‘Dragnet’ in 2021 featuring a song written by the drummer (John) - a first in NRBQ history!

Beyond his long term engagements, John has performed live with such artists as JD McPherson, Young Fresh Fellows, The Smoking Popes, Jake La Botz, Jim Boggia, and The Parasites. He was also hired as the drummer of a band performing 3 nights on Late Show with David Letterman in a week-long tribute to Elvis in 2013.

John has also remained an in-demand session musician and engineer. He’s contributed his drumming talents to albums by Rodney Crowell (featuring Jeff Tweedy), She & Him, Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows, R.E.M., The Minus 5), Greg Townson (Nick Lowe, Los Straitjackets), Josh Caterer (Smoking Popes), Sarah Borges/Eric Amble, and Pete Donnelly (The Figgs, NRBQ, Soul Asylum). He also provided engineering duties for many of those records as well as NRBQ studio and archival releases! Check the discography page for more on that…
